Somehow Hollow - Chasing Daylight EP 12" Vinyl Bubble Gum Pink

It’s been a long and winding road in the 16 years between releases from the Punk brothers in arms, Mike and Brad Casarin, and their life long project, Somehow Hollow.

Through ups, downs, marriages, mortgages, children and the death of founding guitar player Kent Abbott, the brothers knew that no matter the time that had passed, the story had not yet been finished and an ending not yet created for the seminal Southern Ontario group.

Late 2018 the brothers sat down with Engineer and guitar player Dave Featherstone to hash out what was to become the songs that lay before you. Months were spent rekindling the love of songwriting and performing while producing the bands best and fully realized material to date.

Dave in short time became a full fledged member of the group and Mike Harshaw (ex drummer of Metal legends Annihilator) was brought in to realize the full vision of the songs with no compromise.

The boys, after a year of writing, finally entered the legendary Beach Road Studios with Juno Award winning Engineer Siegfried Meier to lay down the tracks and complete the latest chapter of the SH story.

What lies ahead of the listener is a love letter to the genre. A set of songs that the Casarin brothers had always strived to create. A tribute to a fallen friend. A lifelong dedication to music and the passion that has always been present

Found a memento a moment in time. A shoebox of photos a world left behind. It’s Crazy to think that you’re so blind. It’s hard to believe that you’re the same today. Everybody’s got a reason Opinions changing with every season. Maybe you don’t like me? Maybe I don’t care? It’s not like I don’t have my reasons. Your presence won’t mend broken fences. (Found a memento a picture of you) Feels like theres always this weight on my shoulders. (Found a memento) It’s Crazy to think that you’re so blind. It’s hard to believe that you’re the same today. Everybody’s got a reason. Everybody’s got a reason. Everybody’s got a reason. Everybody’s got a reason Opinions changing with every season. Maybe you don’t like me? Maybe I don’t care? It’s not like I don’t care.

Just two teenage kids alone in the world, you were my lighter side, you made me laugh so hard, you made it crystal clear that we would never part, matters of the heart, you had it all, no one could tame you. I have this dream of you surrounded by flowers in bloom, angels circling your bed. Now buried deep inside your tomb is my tribute to you, taking part of me with you. You were infectious, contagious you were chasing Daylight. You were a lightning bolt, the highest volt you were chasing Daylight. Now we’ve seen the world, we travelled so far, but we had our fun, time to settle down, find that solid ground but it fell apart and then things got dark, from the start I couldn’t save you. It’s sad to picture you alone and cold inside that dark room with all the voices in your head. Your demons taking flight from your body that night but our burden ensued. Confusing, Confined, Consumed. You were infectious, contagious you were chasing Daylight. You were a lightning bolt, the highest volt you were chasing Daylight. Now we will never know the truth (know the truth) but you know I will always stand for you. You were infectious, contagious you were chasing Daylight. You were a lightning bolt, the highest volt you were chasing Daylight. You were a speeding car that broke apart. You were chasing daylight. But you sang your life, you sang your life.

Take a look at your life hit rewind. Still acting like it’s 1999. I know you’ve got your status on the line. Reality is taking all your time. So what was once your glory, is now your fading story. Once so sure but insecure now. You gotta figure out something else to do. Because Father Time is catching up to you. YOU CAN’T SLOW You can’t slow time. You have nothing left to give. You wasted your time to live. This aging sensation brings a new meaning to everything. So now you sit there no one by your side, just a sad old man with tear drops in his eyes. Stop living your life the angry lonely guy. Because there’s so much more to do in this lifetime. TIME WON’T SLOW Time won’t slow down. You have nothing left to give. You wasted your time to live. This aging sensation brings a new meaning to everything. You have so much more to give. Your life isn’t over yet. This aging sensation brings a new meaning to everything, you know everything.

Why’d you have to come here? To preach what you bestowed? A million other places and you travel this road? I’m just a stranger to you with nothing left to say. I won’t waste away looking back on those days, you’re never going to win, so get out of my lane. Keep trying to string me along, keep trying to tell me I’m wrong. Keep moving keep on moving along and get out of my way. It’s like I don’t belong here. As if my dues are owed. So why do you pretend to care when clearly you don’t. I’m just a stranger to you I’m nothing but a failure to you Who Holds no credibility With nothing left to say I won’t waste away looking back on those days, you’re never going to win, so get out of my lane. Keep trying to string me along, keep trying to tell me I’m wrong. Keep moving keep on moving along and get out of my way. You’ll never ever win, It’s never going to change, you will never win, it’s never going to change. You will never win and I will never change, you will never win, every single day. I won’t waste away looking back on those days, you’re never going to win, so get out of my lane. Keep trying to string me along, keep trying to tell me I’m wrong. Keep moving keep on moving along and get out of my way and get out of my way. You will never win, I will never change, you will never win, I will never change. I will never win, you will never change. I will never win, you will never change.
